Over the past two years, 10 recruitment consultancies have mushroomed in the city and there has been an increase in off-campus recruitments in the past few months.
CareerPrime Training and Recruitment Solutions' managing director Arasu MT told TOI: "In a city like Mysore, there are many job opportunities for young graduates. Mysore-based firms are showing interest to hire fresh graduates than final year students."
CareerPrime conducted off-campus recruitment drive recently and recruited about 100 candidates.
There is a large scope for off-campus recruitment in Mysore as we analyze that there is huge manpower requirement for industries in Mysore. Now-a-days companies are approaching us to organize off-campus recruitment drive, consultancies claimed.
Candidates with diploma and BE degree are most preferred by companies. The working of off- campus recruitment is either candidates who are in need of job have to register at consultancies or when companies approach consultancies, the latter call for interview through advertisement in journals.

There are many reasons for companies to hire consultancies to help them in recruitment of candidates. NG Staffing coordinator Varun Gururaj said: "Human resource managers of companies can't spend more time screening all candidates. They instead prefer consultancies to do the main work of filtering candidates."
While a few consultancies charge candidates either during registration or after getting job, few others don't charge any fee. Consultancies on demand either from companies or from candidates offer pre-employment workshops for betterment of candidates.
NG staffing consultancy started in 2012 has already placed 50 plus candidates off-campus so far. With increasing off-campus recruitment, the consultancy screens about 10 candidates on a daily basis.
Though the pay packages can't be compared to bigger cities like Bangalore, candidates are determined to get job than sit idle at house.
